Every community has its traditions. Some involve parades. Some involve festivals. And here in Tampa Bay, one of our favorite traditions involves elite craftsmanship, steady hands, and a little friendly competition.
Best Blunt of the Bay V is officially back — and Suncoast NORML is once again bringing one of the most anticipated community events of the year to St. Petersburg just days before 4/20.
A Tampa Bay Tradition Returns

After four wildly successful competitions that drew crowds from across the region, Suncoast NORML is proud to present the fifth installment of its iconic rolling showdown.
Taking place April 18th at 7:00 PM at the St. Petersburg location of Chillum Mushroom & Hemp Dispensary (1916 Central Ave), this year’s event lands perfectly timed — just two days before the unofficial holiday that brings cannabis culture together nationwide.
But this year comes with a twist.
Singles Only. No Teams. No Excuses.

For Best Blunt of the Bay V, the format has evolved.
Previous competitions featured teams, collaboration, and group strategy. This year? It’s every roller for themselves. The competition is officially singles only, putting individual skill, creativity, and composure under pressure to the ultimate test.
Contestants will face off in three rounds designed to test speed, technique, and artistic expression:
Papers
Blunts
Freestyle
Each round challenges participants in different ways, blending technical ability with personal style and showmanship.
This isn’t just a contest. It’s performance art. It’s culture. And it’s a celebration of a craft that has become an iconic part of cannabis community tradition.
More Than a Competition — A Community Gathering
While only one person will walk away with ultimate bragging rights, Best Blunt of the Bay has never been just about winning.
It’s about gathering the community in one place to celebrate creativity, advocacy, and the ongoing movement to normalize cannabis culture in Florida and beyond.
Suncoast NORML has long positioned events like this as more than entertainment. They serve as social hubs where advocates, enthusiasts, and curious newcomers can connect in a welcoming, judgment-free environment while supporting the broader mission of legalization and responsible policy reform.
Events like Best Blunt of the Bay demonstrate what cannabis culture actually looks like in the real world: creative, communal, and full of personality.
